Job Summary:

The Individual hired for the position of Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for managing the Manufacturers Representative Firms for the Electronics Materials Solutions Division (EMSD) in the Interconnect segment. We’re looking for an energetic, passionate and determined individual to manage both the Technical and the Sales requirements for the assigned territory. The Technical Sales Manager will work closely with the Manufacturers Representative Firm teams, end user customers, and distributor personnel. In addition, this person should have the ability to provide product and application technical support, opportunity management, and possess strong influence and communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Drive Manufacturers Representative Firms to grow sales and meet or exceed quota in the assigned territory

  • Specify 3M products on engineering drawings & provide support required to fulfill the business

  • Implement sales plans, promotions, and directives as set by division management

  • Train and coach Manufacturers Representative Firm teams on EMSD goals, products and policies

  • Assess Manufacturers Representative Firms’ productivity to ensure the team is meeting or exceeding key performance indicators

  • Demonstrates a Growth mindset and a natural curiosity; has a strong desire for continual learning and growth

  • Travel with Manufacturers Representative Firms to end customer sites for sales presentations and product demonstrations to grow business and develop relationships

  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of technical products in terms of design specification, competitive cross-referencing, and the ability to provide a total solution across the product portfolio

  • Aptitude to understand and become an expert resource on multiple product lines and applications

  • Working knowledge of assigned region/market with ability to effectively function in dynamic ever-changing environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of five (5) years of Interconnect/electronics sales experience in a private, public, government, or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Sales experience in the Electronic Components Interconnect Industry

  • Displays evidence of growth mindset in past work and life experiences

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills necessary for motivating people

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Strong computer & database management skills: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Salesforce.com

  • Has intimate knowledge of interconnect/electronics business, customers and external market (competitors, trends, etc.)

Location: Remote Based

Territories: Midwest Region (MT, ID, WY, UT, CO), Northeast Region (PA, NJ, DE, VA, WV, VA), and Southeast Region (NC, SC, GA, TN, FL)

Travel: May include up to 50% domestic

Relocation: Is not authorized
