Sr UX Designer

job summary:

We are the UX Engineering team serving the North American market. Our mission is to innovate and standardize the UX/UI across all products serving the financial industry in North American Banks and Credit Unions.

location: Austin, Texas

work hours: 9am to 6pm

responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Product and Development teams to create high fidelity mockups for financial applications

  • Create and maintain a rich Design System to share design best practices inside and outside Finastra

  • Be able to ask the big questions, champion the user and act as a collaborative leader

  • Passionate about the company, our mission and the needs of our users

Responsibilities

  • Defining, creating and contributing to an innovative Design System

  • Visual Design for applications and data visualization widgets

  • Produce wireframes, use flows, mockups, visual design comps and interactive prototypes

  • Efficiently iterate designs, adjusting to technical requirements, and incorporates usability findings into designs

  • Apply established UI patterns to prototypes and mockups to ensure consistency across products, and influence the creation of new UI patterns

qualifications:

  • Five or more years of user experience design for software and mobile/web applications

  • Experience leading other designers to help them develop their skill set. You understand the importance of fostering individual growth for each one on your team and proving them with constructive feedback that's candid yet encouraging.

  • A strong UX-focused portfolio that includes current case studies and prototypes for web and mobile applications

  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time, often on short timelines

  • Deep knowledge of typography, layout and composition, color theory, grid systems, animations, micro-interaction, and illustration

  • Expert understanding of the constraints and opportunities within platforms such as iOS, Android, tablets, web applications, and SaaS.

  • Experience working with developers and engineers to help move products beyond concepts. Prefer experience communicating with the engineering team throughout the sprints, not just at hand-off

  • Ability to understand and inspect HTML, CSS, JavaScript for design acceptance and troubleshooting

skills:

  • Degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related UX degree

  • Advanced proficiency with prototyping tools (Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision)

  • Expert level knowledge of relevant industry tools (Adobe CC, Sketch, Jira, Sourcetree)

  • Knowledge of Material Design principles

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working with various teams

  • Experience with user research methods
