The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) administers respiratory care to patients as ordered by the attending physician. Conducts diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, therapy.

Promotes a positive image of nursing and promotes collegiality among healthcare team members.

Austin Float Pool employees are required to float to all St. David’s Healthcare System Facilities. Austin Float Pool will be scheduled in units in which they have competencies and can be placed in a unit below their competency level with a modified assignment.


Minimum of at least 3 years Acute Care in a hospital setting.


Graduate of a Graduate of AMA Approved: Respiratory Therapy Program



  1. Registered Respiratory Therapist credential by the National Board for

Respiratory Care (NBRC)

  1. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Texas

  2. Valid AHA Basic Life Support Certification

  3. Valid AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification

  4. Valid AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Certification

  5. STABLE Certification for NICU within 6 month of hire

  6. Valid AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
