People's Community Clinic LVN or MA, COVID-19 Care Coordinator (Bilingual) in Austin, Texas

The LVN or Medical Assistant, COVID-19 Care Coordinator is an integral part of the health care team, focused on providing COVID-19 outreach and testing to vulnerable populations in our community.

Work as a member of the health care team to assure excellent patient care:

  • Assist the COVID-19 Care Coordination RN with providing COVID-19 outreach and testing to vulnerable populations in our community

  • Provide results and follow-up, including care coordination, to all patients who receive COVID-19 testing

  • Provide health-related education to patients as needed or requested

  • Back up clinic site MAs as available, including:

  • Greeting patients and escorting them to assigned examination room

  • Documenting appropriate history, vital signs and chief complaint for visit type

  • Preparing the patient for appropriate visit type

  • Assisting the provider during treatment and/or procedures

  • Administering and storing medications according to clinic policy

  • Making referrals as appropriate and necessary, as per procedure

  • Collecting lab specimens and escorting patients to lab

  • Administering immunizations as appropriate and requested

  • Ensuring exam room readiness and adequacy of tools, instruments and exam area supplies

  • Identify opportunities to improve work flow, work processes and patient care, and work cooperatively to implement these and other quality improvements

  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines

Assist COVID-19 Care Coordination RN in administrative/clerical duties by:

  • Assisting in locating patient referral resources

  • Assisting in follow-up paperwork

  • Ensuring all in-house labs are entered into EMR

  • Answering exam area telephone when available and routing calls to appropriate personnel

  • Reviewing charts or reports for call back as needed

  • Notifying patients of lab results following PCC procedures

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Successful completion of a medical assistant or LVN program from an accredited school

Experience:

  • Successful completion of a medical assistant externship or 1 - 3 years experience working as an LVN, preferably in a clinic setting.

Certificate/License:

  • Medical Assistant Certification or current LVN license from the Texas Board of Nursing.

  • CPR Certified

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required

  • Demonstrated knowledge of protocols for MAs relating to patient care, provider assistance, exam rooms and records maintenance

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with a diverse population

  • Self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Patient, flexible and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
