Our Opportunity:

Charles Schwab's Digital Guidance & Planning Product Management team is responsible for defining, delivering, and managing the lifecycle of our platforms and services which bring digital financial planning to Schwab clients, including direct accountability for self-directed planning. We work, think and approach problems differently than your traditional financial services firm, and we drive to change both how Schwab operates and how the industry serves investors. In this role, you will also identify new opportunities to integrate the digital planning platform in to other Schwab lines of business in an effort to help clients achieve their financial goals while deepening relationships with Schwab. You will be responsible for building an integrated platform strategy, build and manage a product roadmap and oversee the team of product owners who will implement the products.

What you’ll do:

The Managing Director will work cross-functionally with leaders from Technology, other Schwab business lines, Legal, Compliance, and Design teams. The candidate will think “horizontally” to deliver an exceptional experience for our clients across points of interaction / channels. The candidate will also ensure new methods for connecting our businesses together through our new digital planning platform are both represented broadly and enabling functionality is designed and implemented through a data-driven methodology.

In addition, this role is responsible for identifying and evaluating how digital planning can be implemented by clients through both existing Schwab offerings and the development of new ones whether by Schwab or through partnerships with thirds parties. It must also enable every Schwab client to access and utlize our digital planning platform to better meet the needs of every client, across the financial spectrum. The capabilities in this area will help form the basis of how the firm meets our clients evolving needs from immediate to longer-term horizons.

Projects are broad in scope and require creativity and world-class strategic thinking, as well as strong product management and leadership skills. The successful candidate must be energetic and enthusiastic about digital investing innovation and also have experience with financial services or platform monetization. They will be self-motivated, results oriented and able to independently lead major strategic initiatives. Strong client-focus is a must.

Directors interact with senior members of Schwab’s leadership team and executive partners within the business units, in addition representing Schwab in the external market and with third party vendors, partners, and other entities. In this role, you will be part of an organization leading Schwab’s digital transformation in the fast-paced digital landscape of financial services. You will have the opportunity to apply your strong critical thinking skills and aptitude to become expert in understanding the needs of individual investor and advisor clients and defining best-in-class digital experiences to address these needs.

What you have:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to formulate compelling vision and strategy and translate that to actionable roadmaps and results.

  • Strong knowledge base and experience developing or managing digital platforms, coupled with knowledge of the underlying technology, both current and emerging.

  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships across multiple levels of the organization

  • Highly developed communication and presentations skills with a superior ability to effectively communicate and present complex concepts and issues to leadership teams.

  • Highly skilled at working cross functionally with technology, service, marketing and product teams to manage the entire lifecyle of a digital platform.

  • Prior experience as an Agile Product Owner or leading scrum teams is preferred, with a deep understanding of agile.

  • Curiosity, a can-do attitude and the ability to learn quickly and thrive in a complex, dynamic environment

  • Self-starter with outstanding organizational skills and ability to track multiple project deliverables with minimal direction

  • 5+ years’ experience Product management experience providing end-to-end business direction and digital product or platform leadership

  • 3+ years’ experience people management; proven track record of building and inspiring high-performing teams.

  • Bachelor's degree required. Post graduate degree is preferred.
