TRAVIS COUNTY Attorney V in AUSTIN, Texas
JOB SUMMARY: Practices civil or criminal law for Texas County or District government. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Analyzes complex healthcare transactions and legal issues for the Travis County Healthcare District and county departments. Performs legal research and analysis on state statutes and administrative rule. Drafts contracts, memoranda and other legal documents; advises on open government and government employment matters. Assists and acts as liaison between other county attorneys and the healthcare district. Works well under pressure utilizing tact with coworkers, public officials and the general public. Performs other job related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: J.D./LL.B. from an accredited law school AND six (6) years licensed attorney work experience. Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. Preferred: Knowledge of healthcare law, including FQHC's, 1115 Medicaid waiver and hospital districts. Strong contracting experience. Familiar with governmental and non-profit contracts and compliance WORK ENVIRONMENT & OTHER INFORMATION: Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motion, reaching, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, balancing, client/customer contact, squatting to perform the essential functions.
