Service Desk Specialist I

  • Department: IT Service Desk

  • Work hours: Full Time (40 Hours); 5 days per week; 8 hour shifts between 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM including weekends and holidays

  • Salary range: $18.56 – $29.67 per hour (based on relevant experience)

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required And

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-year experience in IT support or customer service role highly preferred.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact with management and staff levels within the organization, including medical staff.

  • Must be able to think logically, analytically and make good decisions in a high demand environment.

Position Responsibilities:

Summary:

The Service Desk Specialist I is responsible for receiving, documenting, and resolving software, hardware, and network issues reported by our customers. In addition to having a high sense of self-motivation, this individual must display superior telephone, root cause analysis, and issue resolution skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide first contact technical support via phone, email, chat, web tickets, and various other channels of communication for all IT systems, applications, and equipment. Provide first contact reference and training for customer questions. Provide first contact troubleshooting and resolution for incoming incidents. Document, prioritize, and track incidents using the Connect IT management system. Oversee and manage incidents escalated to 2nd level teams. Provide initial point of contact for customer communications and interactions with ITS. Maintain resolution rate of 70% or better on incoming incidents and maintain Answer rate of 90% or better.

  • Participate in root cause analysis and knowledge documentation as required. Participate in group troubleshooting and resolution activities as required. Maintain expected level of expertise in supported systems. Maintain expected levels in assigned training.

  • This role will provide a combination of virtual and onsite support to multiple Texas Health locations including our hospitals and clinics.
