Job Summary
The Assistant Director leads a technology team that manages technology needs, SEVIS compliance and website oversight for a growing international community with approximately 4000 international students from more than 100 countries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manages SEVIS reporting through batch and real time processes. Daily management of data integrity and batch processes in PeopleSoft and Sunapsis. Manages Sunapsis system, upgrades and data feed issues between PeopleSoft, Sunapsis, and SEVIS. Coordinates system upgrades and maintenance with internal and external end-users. Develops and oversees data interface between office records and university systems. Monitors SEVIS lists and PeopleSoft alerts daily. Prepares reports from Peoplesoft and office databases. Trains and consults with users regarding their interface with the SEVIS immigration systems. Liaises with OIT and other campus departments. Reviews technical specifications of future phases of SEVIS, and upgrades to office technologies and make related recommendations. Keeps current with changes in immigration regulations. Maintains knowledge of standards and best practices for information systems, user documentation, project management, web management, and SEVIS compliance. Oversees the department website and provides support for content management. Assess current needs and future areas for improvement of the website. Supervises the International Education Database Specialist assigned to SEVIS compliance and oversees the work of the OIE Graduate Research Assistant.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor degree in computer science, information systems, or related field, including strong background in database management. Three (3) years of experience with database management including software development, system administration, and workflow control, preferably in a university setting or the equivalent experience. Working knowledge of current Microsoft Office software applications, specifically Excel. Experience working with web tools such as HTML, PHP, and XML.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of Sunapsis and PeopleSoft records management system. Sensitivity to unique needs and cultural differences of international students. Knowledge of F-1 student regulations, and experience with SEVIS and SEVIS batch processing. Experience in supporting large databases, designing web sites and developing web-based forms, and in managing international student records software. Experience leading technical projects and collaborating with multiple stakeholders. Experience with SQL, Visual Basic.
