IHC Scott is seeking experienced transportation construction inspectors to join our team at the Amarillo Airport.
The transportation construction inspector ensures contract documents are followed by performing field observations and evaluation of work by IHC Scott and its subs. Duties will include inspection of work quality, materials, and basic survey to ensure conformance with approved plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Responsibilities may include earthwork inspection, stormwater management inspection, drainage system installation, base course, HMA, and/or PCCP paving inspection, signage, striping, guardrail installation, ADA Ramp installation, retaining wall installation, and coordination of field materials sampling and testing.
The construction inspector will prepare inspection reports and may also include oversight and assignment of other inspection personnel.
ACI and WAQTC certifications and ability to perform occasional concrete or aggregates testing is desirable but not required.
Monitor contractors’ work to ensure quality control and contract compliance for pavements, subgrades, storm drainage, utility, structures, and other phases of transportation construction.
Read and interpret plans.
Be able to recognize basic construction, engineering, or survey problems.
Frequent external contact with Owner and contractor personnel to schedule and coordinate project inspection.
Frequent contact with Owner, contractor, engineers, and surveyors to discuss and resolve field construction issues.
Tracking quantities and prepare daily inspection reports.
Review of material submittals.
3 - 5 years of experience as a construction inspector is preferred.
FAA or USACE experience is desirable.
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to work independently and ability to work remotely and communicate as part of a team.
