Our Flight Nurse is responsible for the safety of patients prior to and during transport to medical care facilities. This includes provision of basic as well as advanced life support and critical care measures required to stabilize the critically ill or injured patient. This position requires proficiency in critical care nursing and knowledge of the interventions necessary for patient management in the aircraft/ambulance and during transport/flight. The Flight Nurse must also be familiar with aircraft operating procedures and safety practices. The ability to establish positive interpersonal and professional relationships is essential.

  • Three years recent nursing experience in an ICU and/or emergency department

  • Current RN licensure in the state(s) served by the assigned program

  • BCLS, ACLS, PALS certification

  • Must adhere to all OSHA requirements


  • Instructor certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TPATC)

  • Previous air medical/critical care transport experience

  • EVOC or CEVO (if not, will be provided prior to operating an emergency vehicle)


  • Prior EMS experience

Additional Qualifications

  • Must obtain specialty certification (CFRN) within two years of hire date

  • Must obtain Transport Provider Advanced Trauma Course certification (TPATC) within one year of hire date

  • Successfully complete Neonatal Resuscitation Provider orientation

Working Conditions and Physical Environment

  • Days, weekends, evenings available with both 12-hour and 24-hour shifts

  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.

  • Must be able to provider medical care within the confines of a helicopter
