Principal Functional Responsibilities: Maintain and repair all types of equipment, performing necessary assembly, dissembling, welding, and pipefitting functions. Tools and Equipment used: Machine tools such as drill press, brake, shear, bending rolls, portable power tools, hand tools, gauges, hoists, slings, precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, levels, industrial power trucks, arc and gas welders, lubrication equipment, and cleaning equipment. Diagnose trouble, disassemble, assemble, inspect, service, and repair all types of mechanical equipment. 2. Lay out, fabricate, install and repair metal and non-metal parts, and equipment painting. 3. Lay out, fabricate, install, and maintain all types of piping and plumbing such as high-pressure hydraulic systems, water, sprinkler systems, airlines, heating systems, and sanitary systems. 4. Lay out, fabricate and perform cutting, burning, and welding equipment such as: stands, guards, low and high pressure piping, castings, miscellaneous parts, and materials such as steel, tool steel, aluminum, and copper. 5. Plan and lay out work, working from drawings and instruction manuals. 6. Perform hand operations such as filing, scraping, lapping, cutting, or fitting. 7. Start up and shut down equipment. 8. Keep records as required and follow verbal and written instructions. 9. Operate cranes, hoists and industrial trucks. 10. Make minor adjustments and repairs to mobile equipment. 11. Assist electrical technician when needed. 12. Operate lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, and shaper as ability permits. 13. Use dial indicators for alignment of motors and pumps to 500 HP, set pre-load, and backlash on gearboxes. 14. Considerable care and judgement required preventing injury to self and others. 15. Read and understand the safety requirements for the job to include personal protective equipment, chemical exposures (right-to-know) machine guarding, noise protection, and ergonomics as it affects the safe operation of the equipment.
