This is an exciting opportunity in Houston, TX for an Engine Workshop Technician. Cummins North America is where you can work on industry leading engine technology such as 40hp to 2500 hp engines or onan gensets.

Skills and Experience Required:
Completes troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds engine products in a service workshop independently while coaching and developing less experienced technicians.
Applies documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines.
Completes required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
Completes training in line with skill and business requirements.
Coaches and develops technicians and/or apprentices and transfers knowledge and experience to others; may provide work direction; may repair plans, parts lists, etc…
Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
Adheres to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical school or community college graduates preferred.
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
Must have a valid Texas or Oklahoma driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Able to fully use all required Cummins service tools including Insite, EDS, Quick Serve On Line.
Ability to train Service Personnel to develop their diagnostic skills.
Able to identify opportunities for work process improvements and recommend appropriate action.
Ability to prepare reports providing feedback on service interventions.
Able to identify and communicate opportunities for work process improvements.
Ability to identify and resolve engine system failures relating to and impact by component failure.
Ability to guide/coach other service technicians through complex service interventions and diagnostic issues.
Can resolve complex technical problems
Ability to identify and up sell further service and repair opportunities.
Ability to develop and maintain productive customer relationships.
Must have an internal drive for customer service and provide an elevated level of service for internal and external customers.
Must comply with safety rules and regulations and apply them to daily work routines for personal safety and the safety of others.
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
All drivers operating a company vehicle must be at least 21 years old; if the truck is a commercial motor vehicle per FMCSA regulation, the driver is required to hold or able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL
Physical Requirements (times are approximate)
Standing 7.5 hours per day
Pushing/Pulling 4.0 hours per day

Lifting up to a maximum of 100 pounds

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience.
