Manager of Emergency Services / ER / Emergency Room / ED / Emergency Department

Under the general supervision of the Unit/Department Director or designee, the Manager is responsible for the efficient, effective running of the assigned units. This includes, but is not limited to management of the budget, provision of patient care services, performance improvement, compliance with regulatory standards, and business development. In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in department. * Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions throughout the department. * Functions as a resource person for supervisors and staff members and assists in necessary education. * Assumes responsibility for the overall quality care provided. * Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit/department, in collaboration with other members of the leadership team. * Effectively allocates financial, physical and human resources to ensure that operations are effective and efficient. * Implements effective cost containment strategies. * Advances organizational mission. * Demonstrates sound knowledge base to the patient population served in the unit/department, including the operation of equipment, and policy and procedures used in the delivery of patient care. * Maintains communication with other members of the management team regarding potential/actual problems or concerns, and with Medical Staff issues. * Assists with establishing and maintaining communication channels with Medical Staff and other departments in the Hospital. * Operates across organizational boundaries and recognizes implications of actions and plans. * Ensures Department/Unit provides positive customer service. * Identifies critical changes required to improve efficiency and effectiveness. * Establishes clear Operational Unit goals and hold staff accountable for their responsibilities and performance. * Motivates staff to be effective team members.

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelors preferred.Bachelors will be required within 3 years of employment.
  • Leadership and management experience is highly desirable.
  • Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted;Texas State RN license required 30 days after hire.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required
  • PALS required within 90 days of hire.
  • TNCC and ENPC strongly recommended and preferred.
  • CEN, CPEN, or TCRN preferred.
