This position is located at William Beaumont Army Medical Center with Patient Administration Division.

William Beaumont Army Medical Center is located at the base of the Franklin Mountains in the central part of El Paso bordering 3 states and 2 countries. William Beaumont offers ample free parking to its staff and visitors and is accessible from I-10, Patriot Freeway, and Border Highway. Contained within the medical center is a small exchange, dining facility, barber shop, chapel, credit union, small gym, and a quarter-mile running track is within walking distance. City buses also provide service to and from the Center. The staff of William Beaumont is closely-knit and considers each other as team members within the similar goal of providing excellent patient care to its customers. Duties

Serves as Supervisor in the Outpatient Medical Records Branch. Providing outpatient medical records service for active duty military, retired armed forces personnel, family members of active and retired armed forces personnel, civilian emergencies and other miscellaneous personnel reporting to the branch; determining identity and eligibility of patients for medical care; establishing and furnishing records to clinics for walk-ins or appointments; requesting, releasing and transferring records; protecting patient confidentiality; furnishing general information and advising patients, visitors and staff on questions concerning outpatient records administration; and maintaining, controlling and making disposition of records. Supervises employees and military administrative support. Makes work assignments and reviews work of subordinates. Assigns and distributes work. Keeps employees informed about policies, procedures and goals of management as they relate to the work of the section.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience developing policy and/or procedures for creating, maintaining, processing, retiring, scanning, transferring and/or releasing medical records (hardcopy and electronic); preparing outpatient medical records statistical reports; perform quality control of files; preparing, screening, scanning and releasing medical records in accordance with federal law and hospital policy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance

  • Ability to Supervise

  • Ability to Communicate with Managers

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).

Note: To support the Time in Grade (TIG) requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50/NPA that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. Failure to do so may affect your rating or consideration for employment.
