CITY OF BRYAN Network and Systems Administrator in BRYAN, Texas

The City of Bryan is seeking qualified candidates for Network & Systems Administrator. This position performs advanced work supporting computer operating systems software and system administration; work involves installing and maintaining systems software and hardware; and generating and applying fixes (patches) to the operating system and related software packages. Performs activities associated with a local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN); work involves network installation, support and maintenance, training, monitoring and analysis of existing hardware and software, and evaluation of potential network enhancements. Responsibilities include: - Designs and manages system-level Wide Area Network and LANs. - Designs and manages network hardware. - Designs and manages Active Directory. - Configures and manages virtual and physical servers. - Sets up group policies and network security. - Builds, maintains, and provides security on routers and firewalls. - Configures and maintains Microsoft Exchange. - Configures and maintains Enterprise Anti-Virus program. - Installs network software. - Oversees and maintains content filtering program. - Provides technical advice as required for system design and planning. - Provides strategic support for compliance standards with the ability to look for impacts and recommend solutions. - As a Subject Matter Expert (SME); prepares and maintains a Statement of Compliance (SOC) for assigned standards and works with other internal and external SMEs to develop and maintain written documentation of plans, programs or procedures necessary to comply with the standard requirements and measures. - Maintains accurate and current compliance documentation for the assigned compliance standard(s) and ensures that all documentation is properly stored in the document management system. - Ensures that all required evidence related to the standards of responsibility are updated, tracked and documented. - Attends compliance related meetings as required. - Conducts or participates in required compliance self-assessments. - Performs related duties as required. Requirements: - Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar field of study or similar field plus 0-2 years directly related experience; OR a Bachelor's degree plus 2-4 years of directly related experience; OR and Associate's degree plus 4-6 years of directly related experience. - Understand and have expertise in TCP/IP. - Experience in LAN/WAN design, system/network administration and support, and systems programming. - Experience in a network environment utilizing the following hardware and software: AS/400 (if applicable), Windows Servers, Microsoft Exchange Server, SMS and Microsoft Office. - Experience supporting municipal government applications strongly preferred.
