Texas Employer Career Support Specialist -Mobile Lab in BROWNSVILLE, Texas

Position Summary: The Mobile Lab Career Support Specialist is responsible for transporting the Workforce Mobile Lab to various sites in Cameron County and providing job matching services to job seekers who possess the necessary skills and experience to fill open employer positions. In addition, this person will accept and process Work-In-Texas (WIT) applications and ensure completeness and quality. Other duties include general cleaning and servicing of vehicle with fuel, lubricants and other maintenance requirements; and recordkeeping of trips and other assigned statistics or records. Job requires occasional work in evenings, on weekends and out of area travel. Duties and Responsibilities: Interviews job seekers to record and assess employment information to determine career development opportunities. Assist job seekers to develop complete and quality WIT applications for employment by securing and recording information reflecting work qualifications based on experience, training, skills, abilities, interests and other factors relevant to proper selection for referral to suitable job openings; provide technical assistance to job seekers using the WIT system Provide employment counseling to job seekers Performs pre-trip inspection procedures to prepare the vehicle for travel, site preparations procedures to set up the vehicle for operation once they have arrived at their destination, and vehicle shut down procedures upon returning to headquarters. Performs fueling and refueling before and after events and storage of vehicle in inclement weather. Responsible for confirming changes from planned route schedule and communicating any maintenance needs to Supervisor (or designee). Performs basic upkeep of the unit including emptying the trash, sweeping the floor, and dusting surfaces. Disseminates information on agency functions, procedures, employment programs, training, supportive services and labor market. Performs outreach to provide information, follow up on initial contact, or encourage clients to use services. May administer and interpret aptitude and proficiency tests or other assessments. Performs other associated duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: High School diploma or GED along with 2 years of related experience is required, including gathering information, interviewing, or counseling; customer service experience is highly preferred. Experience in interviewing and counseling, interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise, eligibility determination preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, to gather and assess information, to manage caseloads, and to communicate effectively. Ability to extract information from computer systems, documents, resource lists, and case records; and to meet deadlines. Proficiency with computers, copiers, fax and printers. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Certificates, Licenses & Registration Must have and maintain a valid Class C driver s license and a clean driving record. For insurance purposes, must be at least 23 years of age. Background Check and MVR are required
