TSYS DevOps Engineer in Austin, Texas

The DevOps Engineer (DOE) develops automated tools for use by end users to rapidly create environments for development and testing. This person performs tool development and integration to further the speed and reliability of the release process from development through deployment. The DOE works with end users to determine how to set up and test environments using both cloud and on-premises technologies. This person assists in the development and deployment of the test database designed to improve software development and testing. The DOE installs and maintains enterprise collaboration and development process tools such as Confluence, JIRA, and Bamboo. As a member of Tools, Environments, and Automation (TEA) Team, the DOE performs TEA support tasks, as assigned. This person fills the Release Engineer role in rotation with other TEA members.

Minimum Required Experience

  • 3 years -- Linux OS

  • 3 years -- writing scripts in the Linux OS (latest OS preferred)

  • 3 years -- at least one scripting language such as Python or Perl

  • 3 years -- at least one continuous integration system (e.g., Buildforge, Bamboo, Electric Commander, Jenkins, etc.)

  • 1 year – Creating environments using a cloud technology (AWS preferred)

  • 1 year -- database development (Oracle preferred)

  • 1 year -- developing and/or maintaining a configuration management system (e.g., Salt (preferred), Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet)

  • 3 years -- working on projects alone and on teams

  • Ability to communicate clearly (writing, speaking, and using graphics)

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Learns quickly and applies knowledge to new situations

  • Collaborates with others both on and outside the team

  • Ability to complete projects

Preferred Experience

  • Database maintenance (Oracle preferred)

  • Developing automated tools and processes using Java or other compiled language

  • Netspend system architecture

  • Netspend application deployment and set up

  • Building Netspend applications

  • Container systems such as Docker

  • Filled role as a QA engineer and/or software engineer

  • Atlassian tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bamboo, HipChat, BitBucket)

  • Open Source Detection tools such as BlackDuck Hub

  • Security Scanning tools such as Fortify

  • Maintaining Atlassian tools

  • Setting up cloud environments using the AWS cloud technology

  • Developing scripts in the following languages: Python, Perl, and Salt

  • Setting up and developing using the mySQLdatabase

  • Web-related languages such as PHP and HTML
